Windows 9: what to expect from the new generation operating system?

A list of resources that may be in Microsoft's plans and would like to see in the new Windows.

In 2009 , we did an article commenting on some features that we would see in Windows 8 . The text had created humorous character , but not all of our guesses were unfounded .

Now that Microsoft is moving at a fast pace ( with version 8.1 available now and a possible 8.2 in the oven ) , we can bring some realistic predictions for Windows 9 .

We note that so far there is no concrete details on the timeline for the development of the next update , nor information about the release of the next Windows. We can not know if the developer will bet on annual updates to Windows 8 or if the plan is to revamp everything and release a new version .

Thus, it is important to keep in mind that maybe some hints of this article did not end up coming true . Anyway , we are well acquainted with the latest rumors , so a sensible article that addresses certain features that really can appear in Windows 9 makes perfect sense at this point .

Rethinking the system

As quoted in the analysis of Windows 8.1 , the current system of Microsoft is very indecisive. The product can not fully please neither environments to which it proposes to serve . Be in a tablet or a desktop computer , the software is weak with confusing features that arise as a result of dual visual .

Due to the large drop in sales of desktop and convergence for devices with touch screen , we can not wonder if Microsoft decided to abandon the desktop interface system . This would be a good bet , but a rumor says otherwise .

According to a posting on a Russian forum , Microsoft will bring the Aero interface (same as Windows 7 ) back in Windows 9 . The person who shared the information said that the old look will be reset to please users who complained about the new interface , however it is possible that the Aero is modified slightly .

Anyway , bring the Aero interface back in the game does not mean much . It is essential in the new Windows, because many software have not yet migrated to the new visual style system - and to maintain compatibility with large applications is of paramount importance to Microsoft .

A good idea would be to provide the power of choice to the user . Who uses a desktop PC or a notebook without touchscreen could make the whole system only in desktop mode , while tablet users would enjoy the modern interface .

This is not a bad idea and see it happen with Apple products (which does not force users to use computer programs and the interface of iPad ) . Systems are different , so you need different functionality . Rethinking the system would certainly be the best idea to ensure the best user experience .

New Control Panel

This overhaul the system would not only be in the interface , but in all resources . One of the problems pointed out in our analysis is precisely the poor organization of options and settings . With a Classic Control Panel and a few functions accessible through the new interface , people find themselves lost in various situations .

Play options for a single location would be a major breakthrough , because the user does not need to scour hidden menus to find settings that are essential . In the case of a separation interface ( desktop computers and touch) , the panels could be arranged in the same way but with icons designed for each type of display.

Something that disturbs a lot in Windows 8 is the lack of a system manager who is really active. Windows 9, we can expect this integration between items in the Control Panel (which may even include software settings) and the interface. Intelligent notifications could make the system more useful and simple.
